The music I’ve listened to most of 2014 is KPOP songs. So
here is my list of the best KPOP music in 2014.
1) "EYES, NOSE, LIPS" BY TAEYANG
This is the best KPop song that came in 2014 and probably
one of the best KPop ballads ever. The
song “Eyes, Nose, Lips” really used Taeyang singing talent. Taeyang excellent singing runs and distinct
tone was a perfect match with beautiful melody and production of the song. In addition the video is sexy as hell with a
great homage to another super sexy video of all time D’Angelo’s “How Does It
Feel.
“Eye, Nose, Lips” won numerous awards and top different music
charts. Plus it’s probably the most
covered KPop song in 2014.
2) "200%" BY AKDONG MUSICIAM (AKMU)
Siblings Lee Chanhyuk and Lee Suhyun of Akdong
Musican are one talented Kpop artists right now. Their voices sound so pristine and innocent. There’s this delicious quality in their voices
that you just want to gobble up. “200%”
in my opinion is their best song they released in 2014. Also I’m in love with the video. It’s so simple and fresh with the very sneaky
revelation in the middle. It is really a smart video that completely matches a
great song.
3)"GROWL" BY EXO
Let just say 2014 is the year for EXO, realising 2 big songs
that dominated the charts, and exploding fan base. “Growl” is the most sophisticated song EXO
release so far. It’s has a great groove
and swag without over doing it. It’s
like everyone involve in the production put the proper amount of ingredients.
The one shot filming of the video is a genius innovation of doing a box filming
that SM Entertainment loves so much.
4) "BORN HATER" BY EPIK HIGH
EPIK HIGH is one of the most talented KPOP-hip hop artists
the even the most great hip hop aficionados would appreciate. I love this song
and the video concept is so genius. The video was shot in one tiny broom closet size room. The use of portrait filming instead of
landscape emphasizes the claustrophobic feeling of the video. This
really proves that you don’t need big expensive production to produce a great
song and video. All you need is a great
talent. “Born Hater” by EPIK HIGH proves
they really deserved to be called epic.
5) "CAN'T STOP" BY CNBLUE
CNBlue is one my favourite bands right. They are one of the bands that really best
performing live. “Can’t Stop” is very similar to the type of song they usually put out. But this is the only song they had released this year and I just can’ stop listening to it (pun intended).
6) "DANGER" BY TAEMIN
"Danger” is Taemin of the boy group SHINEE first release
song as a solo artist. This song is just completely wow. Not only the video highlighted Taemin’s
talent, but the song really excellently produced. "Danger" has superb mixing of vocals and beats, and great layering of different harmony and chords. There is a great Michael Jackson influence in the song and style. And I probably think that if Michael Jackson was still alive this is the kind of songs that the King of Pop will be realising.
7) "OVERDOSE" BY EXO
“Overdose” is another Exo’s biggest song in 2014. They did the similar concept of one shot continues filming in the box set but this time they added flashy lighting and over-wrought emoting at the beginning that are usual ingredient in KPOP idols videos. It may not be a ground breaking but it’s still a great catchy pop song.
8) "QUIT PLAYING" BY U-KISS
This proves that dorky boys can grow up sophisticated and sexy. I love how smooth and sophisticated the song sounds. I think the mature subject of sex specially the “ménage a trois” is done nicely, without being vulgar. For me this is the best U-Kiss song ever.
9) "GO CRAZY' BY 2PM
The song and the video really live up to the title of the
song. This is one heck of a crazy song
and video. The crazy lighting, crazy
outfits and crazy choreography just all added up in one really fun and crazy smorgasbord. The synths and mixes are just plain
sick. This is probably one the biggest
club song this year.
10) "GOOD BOY" BY G DRAGON AND TAEYANG
The song was released late this year. And it takes a great song to get attention
this time when most of the population are just listening to holiday music. “Good
Boy” by G Dragon and Taeyang is great dance music. I think this song will continue to get bigger
next year.
