The trend in Milan for Spring Summer 2010 continued in Paris. Designers offered a lot of clothes in sheer fabrics from jackets, coats, shirts to even bottoms. Spring /Summer 2010 is all about going see-thru. The waist was major emphasis on the body, trousers were cut higher on waist and big belt or cummerbund were added to add height. I guess this is a good news because who’s not tired of seeing strangers’ underwear or worst butt crack all the time in public. In Paris the designer added a lot of feminine touch to the clothes- whether the silhouettes, the fabrics or the ornaments, as if the models from the shows are borrowing some clothes from their girlfriends, sisters or moms.
My top 3 collection from Paris show are:
1) Jean Paul Gaultier- I want to wear almost every piece from this collection. Heck I would even try the male tube tops and bustiers. That would make all my bench presses from the gym in good use. I love Gaultier’s bold and quirky take on minimalism. The collection has a lot of interesting items: eye-catching tailored jersey suits, peacoats with contrasting lapels and trims, sheer. Since a lot of designers are adding feminine touch on menswear there is no question the Gaultier will be on top since he has been mastering the gender game from beginning of his career.
2) Dior Homme - Kris Van Assche finally utilize of the techniques he has been using on his label and showed us the reason why he was chosen to Dior Homme. I think this season Dior Homme at long last got rid of Slimane ghost. This is finally Dior Homme by Kris Van Assche. I love the beautiful and elegant ultra light collection. The combination of raw and delicate are very interesting balance
3) Alexis Mabile- He continued using couture techniques on his menswear “Dandy” collection. The playful and daring collection were consist of bejeweled high-tops, brocade robes and lame , piqué shirts worn with bowties, striped cardigans, high-waist Bermudas suits in Op-art prints .
