I’m not really into prints and pattern but when I saw this brand Desigual which stores are all over Barcelona I fell in love with it. The way they mixed the fabrics and pattern are so interesting. They have the same design elements as the higher end brand Custo Barcelona. So for the first time ever I bought a clothing items and accessories that have prints all over them. I couldn’t resist the couple of graffiti printed shirts and bags from their latest collection.
Desigual is already something of a household name in Spain and its logo is a familiar sight. Fun, fresh, authentic and rebellious, coupled with a sense of humour are the key brand values, Offering a directional range of men and women’s casual wear.
The brainchild of Thomas Meyer, Desigual began in 1984 with the objective to create a fun and differentiated clothing range at accessible prices. Meyer originated from Switzerland and had been working in the Spanish fashion industry selling remarkably designed second hand clothes.
The decor of the store is perhaps testament to Meyer's style, with the white walls decorated with graffiti that passers by might write on a wall at a party. The first slogan for the brand was 'Desigual is not the same', and this continues to be the driving force behind the label over twenty years on.
